This is scary for my father also. He leaves hours prior to appts that he has driven for 50 years . Dents n dings no idea where he got them from. Terrified to be in truck with him.

I had Dr write a note to the DMVwhen it was time to renew her license back in 2022 cause I would get scared when she was little late so when we went to renew they gave her a license that was stamped not for federal use and blamed the Dr so she got mad about the Dr's decision and it took the heat off me.I have been driving mrs.Daisey everywhere she wants to go ever since and I don't t h ink she minds at all good luck with therapy.praying he won't get behind the wheel and hurt himself or someone else

Hope you recover fully and soon. My husband still talks about buying a car and driving when we're back visiting in CT. Here in FL there is only "my" car and he doesn't ask to drive it. I have told him the MD doesn't approve him driving without some testing which he refused multiple time over the past few years. I know he doesn't have the ability to buy a car or reapply for his license so I just don't respond. It was harder a year or two ago when he was less cognitively impaired but still not safe to drive. Sending support. Take care.
