One of the features of the Medicare website is you can enter your zip code and it'll give you listings and ratings (and a lot of other good info) of care centers in your vicinity. It's a good way to start your search.
It’s a lot of research to find the places to visit and will fit your loved ones needs.. do you need the facility to be secured due to possible wandering?? …are you planning to private pay month??..it’s very costly??.. you can contact your county or state to get a list or even book on places available and also a list of what questions to ask when you take tours of facilities e.g. the ratio regarding staff to patients, etc etc! There may also be companies in your area that help find places for you..they usually get reimbursed by the facility! Hope this helps you.. it’s an exhausting journey!!
The best thing to do is visit all reasonably close care homes and decide for yourself which you feel would be most acceptable to your husband . Ask to see occupied rooms , especially their bathrooms . This is your guide to cleanliness . Watch the staff interact with residents . My husband and I were fortunate with truly caring workers .
