My mom who is 97 is currently on comfort care, specifically hospice. Some consider palliative care comfort care, too. Consider asking the nursing home if they are suggesting palliative or hospice care. Comfort care focuses on helping the individual live out the remainder of life with dignity...helping them remain happy, pain-free (as much as possible), and living life with as much gusto as possible.
