In some states, the Medicaid program will let spouses enroll as caregivers but it's not common. You could contact your local Alzheimer's Association and ask all those questions you have. Another good check is your local government aging office. They have a Caregiver Support Program.

Have you been in touch with the Alzeimers society on Vancouver Island
They would have the answer to your question
They have been very helpful to me when my husband was diagnosed!
He is now in a care home in Surrey!
