This strikes me so with the example of my own mom. It makes me realise how as children, we learn things that serve us our entire lives. What is one of the key reasons to go to school for example and why it’s important? To learn how to behave with other people.
@A myALZteam Member: In a sense, yes; unraveling is a good word.
If you're not already familiar with the Reisberg Scale, here’s a link to the website with the best Reisberg Scale info (in my opinion). Scroll down to the Reisberg Scale:

There's also the FAST Scale (Reisberg Functional Assessment Staging Test), which care providers use to determine what stage a patient is at. Not long ago, I posted my copy, which incorporates the "Instrumental Activities of Daily Living" and also the "Activities of Daily Living" and (in my opinion) makes it easier for an average person to use. Things are hard to find on this site, so here it is again, for you.
Please note the Cognitive Age in the right hand column.
@A myALZteam Member: Thank you for the compliment.
I had an in-person Support Group meeting yesterday, and brought printed copies (because the Stages had come up at our last meeting) -- and the very experienced woman who leads the group asked if she could give it out to others, in other groups. She said that it's really helpful to have a chart that includes the IADL's and ADL's, because it puts behavioral issues into context.
I think I finally got this to save so I can refer it. You did a great job organizing this.
@A myALZteam Member Thanks so much for sharing the chart which I've shared with a few family members who needed a visual. Very helpful and a good tool for having tough conversations with those who aren't caregivers.
