Hello A Hematologist most likely will put your loved one on Iron IV Infusion.
My wife received these once a month and her numbers came up after every infusion. Make sure his bloodwork is done regularly as he may require a
blood transfusion if his numbers get too low.
Good Luck

I am glad to read the answers. My husband is in his 3rd year of Alzheimers and has anemia. All is blood tests were fine except of iron. I have been trying to find out why he has anemia and the doctor did not have an answer. He is taking iron tablets 2 times a day, but is still weak and sleeps alot in the day time.

My mom has anemia because she has a poor and selective diet and refuses supplements. Her last blood test showed anemia. She is 89 and in the 7th year of her diagnosis. I don’t know how helpful this is to you…but I know someone will have a better answer for you than I.

Yes. My Wife had severe AD. and she became weak and lethargic. I made the primary Dr. do bloodwork and her hemoglobin was 6.6. We needed blood transfusion , and later iron infusions and iron sulfate pills. Over a 3 month period her levels came back up. Unfortunately the Dr. could never explain the anemia, and unfortunately my wife passed 4 months after the anemia was
discovered.
Best of Luck
