Many of us have already learned the hard way that incontinence is an inevitable part of the dementia landscape. I frequently use the shower to get my wife clean again but I’ve been wondering about bidet attachments for the toilet. Does anyone have any experience with them? Are they practical to use for the dementia patient? Expensive to purchase and install? Thanks
There’s a really affordable one called the Tushy that’s not complex and easy to install. Just not sure if it’s something that can be learned now. But best wishes and great thinking on this one. Maybe worth a try with some assistance? 🤷♂️
Andy,
My husband and I are using them for almost 25yrs .We used to live in Japan (US Navy) and I am Japanese . Almost all the family have Bidet toilet over there. My husband loves them so we brought back manual
Operated bidet toilet seat from Japan 23yrs ago .. now we can buy it in US too.
My husband started incontinent recently and started wearing Depends.
When he did his bowel movement in Depends ,he still takes shower , it is too much of a mess for bidet . But if it is only a little leak , he can clean it with bidet.
If she never used it before , it may confuse her . My husband still use it when he succeeded at toilet . He loves it and used to it . So if she just leaks a little it is useful , but if not , she still
needs to take shower…
I used bidets when I was in Russia. I wanted to get one fir my wife but she had never used one so I am sure she would be confused on how to use one ☹️
I had one put in for my husband. He could not figure it out. I would find he left it on and sprayed all over floor. I think if we had it before dementia got worse it may have worked. It was expensive. Still nice for me
