hi. My husband had Vascular Dementia. 2018 , Notice some differences. 2019 Diagnosed. as time went on living in his world, driving stopped, then got to be were I couldn’t leave him alone anymore, day in and out lots of Scenarios, hallucinations, disconnects , misinterpretations all together.Later end of 2020 into 2021 wanting to go home, I could be different people sometimes. Ask who am I . As you can imagine the Dementia mind, This year my husband which had been home the whole time, me caregiver of him . 50 years of marriage, it got to be where i could not redirect him anymore, He did not want to stay. thought so many different scenarios His eating (appetite) started to get smaller Had a Couple of falls, Had to take him in to hospital, the stay was almost 3 weeks, put him into memory care and almost 3 weeks to the day he passed away, He was walking more balanced with a walker and Had wheelchair, He thought he could take off without walker, mistake, he had a bad fall again, His eating and drinking that past month was staring to shut down, before his death he did not eat or drink like for 3 days, He still communicated with me to’ Was feeling nausea the night before, next morning the got him By his bed , come back and passed away, My husband was ready for the Lord to take him, He was Happy , he had family around him all times, felt like I was safe, He even ask me to marry him week before he passed’ We all have so many happy memories with him, This is a hard Journey, God held our hands daily through this journey. just be kind, loving understanding , make them feel loved and safe, Live in their world, Each Alzheimer’s/ vascular dementia patients can’t put a time on it on the way the progress’ All depends on the symptoms and underlying issues if they have any’ THIS IS A GREAT SITE TO LEARN FROM, to vent, to be supported and be a supporter. ask questions.blessings Debbie Sorry so long, This Journey is all the same but different❤️😇

Bernie 2 I hope you wife passes peacefully and without pain. I have seen you on here since I started a couple of yrs. ago. Stay strong Bernie. I pray for strength for you.

I hope you find a better day today. I think without his meds. he would have progressed faster. But how can I really tell unless he comes off of them and that is not going to happen anytime soon. I look at him and think, he isn't going to get that bad. Then I read stories and think so far we are Blessed.
