I Have Taken Namenda & Exelon Since 2007 For Frontal Temporal Lobe? Why Isn't Given To Help More People?

Three Pet scans show I have this. Namenda & Exelon help the brain in different ways and are affective when taken together. I still drive , care for my self, ect. I also take Folate , VIT B12. At times I forget some things. Why aren't these 2 meds used more often to help others? I have tried to reach out to help , but no response. It is so frustrating, these are not used more. I think some Drs need to try to be more awareto help others. When I first got it , I could not think or speak right, but… read more

Donna,God bless you for hanging in! As an Early Stage Alz patient, I speak for loved ones who can no longer speak, when I say, IF they could, they would express so much gratitude for what you do for them, each day!

My mom was also put on that Dr meds she's 87. Been on them three years at first I thought I noticed a change. I asked doctor if it's not helping should she still take them and he said yes. They will help but they won't help as much so she's still on meds. I'm her only caregiver. It's so hard Especially when she doesn't sleep. Or thinks she needs to go home. She's lived in same house 50 years. It's just very hard. But stay on meds if doctor says 🥰

Exelon and Rivastigmine are the same medication. I take Namenda with it as they work well together and each helps the brain in a different way. I never thought I'd still be here after all these years. Yet I am here and still going forward. Thanks for the reply.

There may be reasons why some patients are prescribed certain meds and others take something different. It depends on the symptoms, the type of dementia, and the health of the patients. My husband has mixed dementia, probable diagnosis,- vascular and Alzheimer’s. He takes Arisept, Namenda and Zoloft. He also takes B12, as well as other vitamins, Aleve and CBD with HTC.
