They put my husband on .025 twice a day. It has made such a difference..especially when he sundowns. I hope he can stay on it.
Every night my husband sits in the livingroom to watch tv but at a certain time he always closes the curtain. I was wondering if that was part of it. Thanks in advance
My hubby's cousin did tell me her late husband had "sundowns". My husband sometimes gets very annoyed easily and throws a temper late in the day. I just give him an energy bar while I prepare dinner… read more
I'm new to myALZteam. In my profile it asks me to "Add Provider". What are you referring to? My PC, my dad's PC? I don't think he sees a Neurologist. (I'll have to check- seems like he should be) !
I believe I put her neurologist when it asked that and if you don't I would've but down his primary care physician hope this helps
Thanks everyone for the hugs!
I knew in my heart of hearts he was showing signs of dementia even before the neurologists diagnosis 3 months ago. I can not stop crying when I’m alone. And heaven forbid friends who know walk up to me and give me a hug! I literally almost come unglued. I don’t cry in front of him. He is early stage so it’s as if you did not know you wouldn’t know at this point. I can tell, yes I can tell. You see we have been together since 10th grade in high school (embarrassingly looooong ago😂). But so… read more
I pray for God to give me more patience. At times watching my husband get worse is horrible. He tried to put his razor in his mouth thinking it was a toothbrush. I just want to scream. My life is… read more
Last night and another night, my dad has turned in the bathroom, hall lights and family room lights in the middle of the night. I heard my husband yell at my dad in the middle of the night. I heard my dad go back to his room and I went back to sleep. My husband still works so he didn't get much sleep last night because of this.
I told my dad not to turn the lights except the bathroom light on. He doesn't need to turn the family room light on go to the bathroom.
Does anyone know why they… read more

My Dad is suffering with Alzheimers and his Doctor has got him on 2 x 25mg of Quetiapine for the depression, I have been reading up on this and and I am not entirely sure it is doing Dad any favours. Does anyone else have any experience of this drug in the treatment of Alzheimers - good or bad. I just want my Dad to be around for a bit longer so any suggestions would be appreciated.
My husband is on the same drug and the same dosage. It was prescribed to help calm him down, especially at night. It seems to help him sleep, but he has been on it for over a year and I can no… read more
How do you cope with "Sun-downers". My husband wants to go "home" everynight. He even packs things he is taking with him. Every trick I know does nothing to help.
My wife does the same thing. I found talking to her, walking around and showing her pictures of us in different parts of the house helps.
My husband always wanted the light on but he wanted to see his way to the bathroom.
Is there a medication that any one has used for this problem that has been successful in lessen the physical aggression?
That aggressive behavior has to be so scary for you. Please talk to his doctor for a review of his meds. It’s hard because some meds work better than others and not all the time. I hope… read more
