What’s a better approach. It is so very difficult to find activities he can actually participate in!
I don't know there is another approach than what you are doing. Deflect, lie and hope for the best is generally the move caregiver's make. When a bull is running, the only thing you can do is to encourage a path you want them to take. AD is like that bull speaking volumes on behalf of it's host. Blessings to you
Chris, this is a real challenge. Matching activities to ability always brought me up against an uncomfortable sense of infantilising my wife, Jackie. There is also the risk of feeding an enthusiasm that becomes a fixation, and hence either a time thief or a massive frustration all round. I never really found a satisfactory answer. The best I came to was our support group, where doing simple things together seemed to give our loved ones lots of pleasure and laughs. A close second came from the insights of Jolene Brackey in her Creating Moments of Joy programme. That is available in book form or on line at futurelearn.com.
