Seroquel
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

Anyone have info on seroquel? Dr. Put my 95 year old mom on this in October. I was hesitant because of the black box warning. Mom was recently hospitalized with mild heart attack. They are not taking her off the seroquel. Should I be concerned? My husband thinks benefits out weigh side effects. Mom is in a nursing home, 95 years old snd weighs 85 lbs. She sundowns and is more confused in afternoon. Cries alot. She is not violent or abusive. Any thoughts?

I personally do not like the Seroquel, my mom is 78 and was put on it to calm her down, but instead it did the total opposite, it caused her to be angry and violent. She had to be taken off of it and is now back on her Lexapro. I only wish there was something that would help with her agitation.

I have a prescription of seroquel and have used it a few times but not regularly. Our Dr. recommended it only as needed because of the confusion etc. I honestly dont love the side effects but i feel it necessary to have on hand. Dad sundowns too.

Thank you. I talked to her doctor and he thinks it's best she stay on it as it helps with her anxiety and crying.
