My Dad Is 87 Years Old And I'm His Daughter & Full Time Caretaker.

We are having new carpet and paint inside his house. Furniture will be moved out and no tv. Should I take him to a Family members house during the day while they work? This could be 2 weeks to complete. I'm afraid this will be very disturbing to Dad. He still knows what's going on and who we are. Just very forgetful.

Berkster, We had new flooring put down in our home and I took my husband to the Oregon coast for a few days. We came home a day before they were finished and realized very quickly that I was glad we took those days away from the construction. It is confusing for them. Hope it it all goes well for the new paint and carpeting. Hugs For you and your dad.

We had our bathroom redone to replace the tub with a walkin shower. During the demolition (first day) I huddled with my wife in an isolated room of the house. The noise and vibrations were horrendous. I was able to calm my wife and let her know it was all right. Being at a different site. would have been a better choice.

Sounds like the best idea if you are there with him most of time at family member but he may react badly to home disruption when you return there in evenings.

The disruption is what I'm afraid of. It can't be helped. The carpet we have is becoming a trip hazard.
