Getting My Wife To Shower Or Bathe.
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

My wife has been refusing to shower or take a bath for 2 weeks now. Tells me to mind my own business when I suggest she shower. Her hygiene is poor. What can I do?

I use the No Rinse Foam for my mother because of her inability to get in the shower or bath. It works great. Lotion afterward is good too. Maybe suggest to her you’d like to give her a spa day with you being the giver:) Make it fun if she’d go for it.

Wondering if you have a female relative or friend to assist her showering...sometimes they are more resistant to their caregiver There are also those disposable large soap filled sponges that are just dampened and used to give a bed/standing bath.

Diversion is key! Definitely make it fun and include yourself as much as you can. That helps. My father is the same. Alzheimer’s and dementia patients do not like water, especially on their face.
