My sister and I prepare all meals for our mother. We fix microwavable plates so that all she has to do is heat it up in the microwave. However, most of the time she would rather eat snacks all day rather than the meals. Some weeks we end up having to throw out the food we prepared for her which becomes very frustrating for us. Yes. There comes a time when their nutrition needs to be supervised and it sounds like your mom is getting there.
Thank you all for your input. I am realizing that the time has come that my mother needs more supervision. It's going to be hard for her to give up what freedom she has, but we'll get through this one day at a time.
I can only share my experience as a person with Lewy Body Dementia with Alzheimers and that is that I have a friend of mine who prepares meals for me all the time and I keep them up in the freezer to bring down when I’m hungry and I forget to eat. She often called me to ask me if I have ate Today and then I will tell her no I forgot and so she asked me to go eat after we hang up and after we hang up I forget what it was she wanted me to go do. It usually isn’t until the next day or a couple days later that I start to get hungry and then wonder why I’m hungry
Maybe if you write on a paper “Don’t forget to eat” and hang it in your kitchen. You need to eat.🦋
I am a person with early Onset Alzheimer’s with Lewy Body Dementia and if it wasn’t for my friend reminding me to eat I would go a day or two without it because I definitely forget and my stomach doesn’t really tell me that I’m hungry so I don’t know if that goes hand-in-hand with Alzheimer’s or not
