I fill a spray bottle with water and added drops of an essential oil ( lavender or peppermint are good) I spray the bed, sofas, his recliner, etc. Then I start up my diffuser and add essential oils to it. I love to add drops of clove, cinnamon and lemon oil. It diffuses throughout the whole house and smells like I have been cooking pies.
Every night after he goes to bed I grab his clothes and put them in the hamper and lay out clean clothes. He never knows the difference.
Good luck!

Cowgirl, don't except a stinky house. You have needs too. Especially if you are start out with this. And orders cause bad attitude and hostility. When he gets in the shower take his clothes and put them in the laundry room then lay out clean clothes for him.

My Mom gets a sponge bath daily. She gets pj clothes changed daily and sometimes the bed sheets. She lies on a pad that gets changed every day- sometimes twice a day. They wash her sheets and pj in hot water.

Some body odors come from medicine. My husband that died took insulin and his body was rank in odors. I mean don't get down wind of him. Also, we had a bad time getting him in the shower or brushing his teeth. His teeth ended up breaking off. Snaggle toothed. Talk about bad breath. Yuck. It was a fight every time we had to get him clean. I use essential oils and candles all over the house. Scented soaps like irish spring helps. I've wiped his clean body down with alcohol, used baby wipes. Interestingly sinus infection can cause body odors.

UPDATE: somebody on this thread said smell could be related to uti... I think they could be correct! The smell has disappeared as mysteriously as it appeared. He went thru a uti and was treated and smell went away!! Thank god in heaven!
