My dad recently had his annual memory test. It went from 25 to 17. My mom can't really explain. Does anyone know what that means?
The score goes like this.. the high score is 30...20 to 24 mild dementia,13 to 20 moderate dementia.. and less then 12 severe dementia.. it also says that Alzhemers declines 2 - 4 points a yr.
Medication such as aricept is started when the score is below a certain level. My husband has been on it for nearly 10 years. I think it helped
slow the progress of the disease
What are those scores? My husband has been a patient at Washington University in St. Louis for over a year- I have never heard about a scored memory test...I think I will ask about that
My husband went from 24 to 17 in less than a year. He has an appointment in April for a re- eval.
My husband is on Memantine and Doneprezil and he was diagnosed with alzheimers 4 yrs ago. Meds do not seem to do anything. every week is something else. He is up and down out of his chair and wanders around to different rooms thinking something is missing or someone is missing. Now he is changing shirts 2 to 3 times a day. He does not know his kids. He is ok to be left with them tho. He kept me up a lot of the night and when I did get to sleep he did everything to wake me up.
