Yes you should talk to the D.R it's the only way forward.

Hi Mary Balance was one of the first things that mum had problems with in the physical way.
Mum was referred to the E.N.T department they did an M.R.I. which showed that mum had vascular changes in the brain mum is mixed dementia Vascular,Alz, and Lewybody.
I think it depends what parts of the brain are damaged and affected.
I think your husband need an M.R.I. scan that would tell the D.R.S what's going on.

My husband too has balance and mobility problems. We bought him a walker off amazon with a seat. It helps a lot when we are out as he has somewhere to sit when he is getting tired or his legs are hurting. He has Alzheimer’s and NPH

We thought Mom only had dementia, until I took her to a neurologist, and we found out she has more Parkinsons than she does dementia. Her balance is off, and her left side is weak. Her hands tremble from time to time and she walks really slow and humped over. Wish we had a good geriatric specialist around here!
