Where Can You Place A Very Combative Person?
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

My husband is very combative when We try to help him. He fights and kicks the home care givers out of the house. Police have been called twice. Dr. put him on haldol but that doesn't seem to stop him when we try to clean him up, or get him dressed or redirect him. But it does keep him at bay when we're not asking something of him. He's in hospital now for his 2nd seizure. Trying to place him but no facility will take him after they read his records. They changed his med's, but he's still… read more

KathyDinterman: I wish I had an answer. I fear the same thing will happen with us. I am concerned I won't get a facility to take him and I don't know what my opinion will be. I suppose if he kills me they will place him in the prison system. I hope the Alzheimer's association or Office of senior services can help me to find answers on what I should do if my husband becomes more violent like yours. I fear the road ahead. Thank you for sharing, if I learn of any options I will share with you. Big hug - thinking of you Kathy

I'm wondering too if it is something else. But he has all the characteristics of stage six. So I'm confused myself. I'll look to see if I can find someplace. His dr is at the aging institute/memory clinic. But no one seems to know exactly what he has except dementia. And no one seems to know how to treat his behavior issues. Thank you all. Guess I should expand and keep searching for answers.

Are you sure he has ALZ I talk to my Ms and she had a client that was said to had been diagnosed with ALZ and then was taken to a brain clinic in Chicago was found out that was not the case. It was a whole different ball game then. Get him tested with the best even if you need to take him out of state. Hugs and prayers for you.
