Medications For Aggressive Behaviour
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

Would appreciate hearing from anyone who's loved one has been on clonazepam and quetiapine and if you found either or both helpful .

My husband takes the following for the same reasons you mentioned.
After many outbursts and verbal attacks on family and me the final straw came in May when he punched me in the face. Like you, I watched his anger escalate over time, but I never thought he would hurt and he did.
After a trip to the neurologist office the addition of Clonazepam/Clonopin was added to the drug list plus she increased dosing of Resperidone and Quetiapine/Seroquel.

Escitalopram/Anti-depression 20mg 1 pill in the morning
Resperidone .25mg 3 times per day Anti-anxiety
Quetiapine/Seroquel 25mg 1pill at 11am and 1 at 7pm
Clonazepam 0.5mg 1 tab at bedtime and 1 during the day if needed

He's calm and happy while awake, but sleeps 18 hours a day and no longer demonstrates volatile behavior. Sometimes I feel lonely and sad, missing the wonderful life we had but I'll take sleep over rage any day! I believe each stage takes away a piece of our hearts but leaves us better prepared for the next stage.
Wishing you the best!

My husband is on quetiapine (Seraquel generic). He was not aggressive but was agitated and not sleeping. He sleeps through the night (thank you, Lord). I would definitely try it. It makes him sleepy when he takes it in late evening.

You go ahead honey and rant. We have all been there, done that. It is a must if you are going to survive this ordeal. Sending hugs.💟 Susie Q.

My Bud also only takes Seroquel/quetiapine which helps with his delusions and hallucinations. Also, makes him restful for a nap in the afternoon and at night.

thanks everyone, gosh Sandra sounds like you had a really tough time :( I think we all agree that this disease is just so horrid. Only those of us who live with it really know the true torture of it on everyone in the home. I hope with all my heart there is a cure in time for my children's generation . I have 4 kids my eldest is 30 and youngest 21 so I'm really hoping for a medical breakthrough within the next couple of decades.
