Late Onset Alzheimer’s Disease Moderate Stages With Behavioral Disturbance And A Frontotemporal Component
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

— he is on aricept and Lexapro and alprazolam PRN and now they are prescribing him depakote 250mg 1x daily extended release —- he is in a memory care respite stay right now and he’s been deemed incompetent — is there another medication that may better help him calm his mind down consistently — not just “mood stabilizers”? Or has this medication worked for your loved ones?

My husband was on Aricept (Exelon 24-hr. patch) and Namenda plus Seroquil in generic form. In late stage, Hospice has eliminated the first two and kept him on 50 mg. Seroquil at noon and 100 at night. This calms him and helps him sleep and stops hallucinations. Hope this helps!

It helps him sleep so I give it to him at night. He takes the same dosage 25mg. I noticed a difference within a week. He was still a little aggressive so I was told to give it to him twice a day but it made him sleep most of the day. I went back to giving it once a day and added the CBD oil. Good luck.

They are giving him one a day for 7 Days and then (if all goes well) upping it to 25mg twice daily moving forward

Seroquel was added to my husband ‘s medications when he became aggressive. I also added CDB oil, also used as a calming supplement. The oil is not legal/available in some states and counties.

They prescribed him to the seroquel 25 mg in the morning 1x daily to stay; instead of the depakote today— will this medication take a long time to show any changes (good, or bad?) or is it relatively quickly?
