My Mom In Law And I Just Don't Know What To Do Anymore. Dad Is In His 3rd Memory Care Facility But We're

facing the same problem we faced at the other 2 facilities. They aren't doing anything to help with his word memory, speech therapy, personal cleanliness or even keeping the room clean!! We can't seem to find a competent facility that cares for their patients and their wellbeing. There are only 8 patients on the floor. It is so frustrating. Mom feels like she is paying $5000 a month!!! for ambiance and that's it!! What makes it worse is that she lives in Bradenton and her son & I live in… read more

It’s so difficult because the law says they cannot force a patient to shower, change their clothing, etc. My H was falling a lot and was so sick with gastroparisis yet they weren’t watching that he not get extra food beyond his regular meals or a mid morning or afternoon snack even with a script from his doc! Finally, due to quarantine H was discharged from rehab to a smaller facility of the same company and they implement whatever is needed for his care and safety immediately. It’s not as fancy or new but his care is far better. Before that I went over my contract and brought all issues to the attention of the executive director of the facility that my monthly fee was supposed to cover these things and it wasn’t being done. I asked why not and expected to see change. Short staff is not an excuse. Good luck!

It’s hard to find a good Alzheimer’s facility after my Mom had a stoke we put my Dad in the first facility and that one was not the right place the second was nice but my Dad was ending up at the emergency twice because they claimed he fell off a chair my Dad has never fallen he has impeccable balance and finding bruises on his hands and arm also a bite mark on his stomach and he was smelly just not getting proper care and everytime we spoke up for him something else would happen to him the third place was small and nice but it wasn’t a good fit and he kept saying when do i get to go home it was heart wrenching he still knows who my Mom is and me the facility’s in my opinion do not give adequate care they have to many patients to care for making it impossible for your loved one to get the right care all facilities should have cameras cause there are a lot of people doing that job that don’t give a rats ***sss about your loved ones!!! luckily we found home care which by far is the cheapest and it’s one on one getting the right care now he looks so much better and he is so so happy!!! all our government cares about is making money for the pharmaceuticals it’s shocking to me that they would rather find a pill which is called Viagra then find a cure for a real disease !!!!!!!

There is a place called Alden Courts in Tampa that I feel confident would fill the bill. Perhaps they have other locations. Or, at least you could come visit and get ideas of what to look for.
