Oh my goodness..... I so remember the bathing and same clothes issues..... That was very difficult. Somehow you have to try and trick them.... Going to see a "special person", going to the doctor, going out to eat, someone's coming to the house for a special occasion.... Little fibs that once you get them coaxed into a shower they forget about anyway... Sadly... It is still a struggle but that was when I got the best results... The clothes... As soon as mama went to sleep, I grabbed them and washed or hid and put clean clothes where they were.... It was a very difficult time.... That will never be easier. Seems everyone has that problem and over the years, there was no sure fire answer... Good luck!! 😊

My husband has had dementia since 2012 and seems to be progressing a little more quickly now. He has been on donepezil and namenda for several years. In Jan He was hospitalized with uti, sepsis and aspiration pneumonia, was in rehab for 3 weeks. When released he had home health care. For the last month he has had diarrhea. his dr ordered Viberzi, while waiting for prescription I tried imodium which gave him a more normal bm We tried the viberzi for a week , he continued with diarrhea. I put him back on imodium. I didn't know the donepezil side effect. I will ask dr if I could try taking him off.

Than you all for your help.

You did not say how long he has been taking the 10 mg. My husband still has diarrhea sometimes but not bad enough to take him off it. They say that Aricept works for only about 56% of people. Hope it gets better.

A big special hug for you Marie . You must feel so alone . Only we the cares really understand how it is . How long as your husband had dementia . My husband started in 2012 . I don't know what stage he's at . I don't think I want to know .he does ask who the other people are in the house . He scramble s his speech .he drives very well . I found out the other day he wasn't using shower gel . He didn't like the dispensers i had put on the wall of the showers . We have such joy in our lives with grandchildren and a new baby .but I am aware Granville seems to be on the outside looking in . He was a huge character a good sense of humour . Adores children . But I see people wary of his over socialising . And rebutting him . Sigh we love them so much ,it hurts how people are impatient with him . All the very best Marie I hope you have good people around you . I would report that neurologist . Don't put up with impatient superior idiots .he should know how desperate you must have been feeling . I think I have just written a book .all the best x

I asked the doctor if they had anything for the next step . No came the answer . So it is left to us the carer to try and negotiate how we find something that will enrich our dementia patient . I don't want to resort to keeping them quite and medicated out of it . We are finding our latest test
Chlorella 250 mg twelve pounds for 1000 tablets are really good .at first it seemed to be clearing us out and we had a little indigestion . We find two tablets am and two pm for us is the.best dosage for us .we have more energy , clearer minds . It's not expensive . I reason not popping to the doctor all the time to ask about natural products is my husband as been in a research program for the last two years . It's now finished . Alarms went off when we received a letter telling us to stop all tablets now dementia patients were experiencing severe side effects that program was called the MADE research . My doctor was aware my husband was on this program . Yet had no advice about it or concern . He is now taking along with Donepezil 10 mg chlorele . I am taking them because I have mental exhaustion and the latest is my husband refuses to shower and is quite angry . He smells any idea how to get.around this one . He goes to the gym three times a week and drives himself there yet his previous immaculate fastidious as gone he also wants to wear the same clothes if I am not quick enough to take and Wash them . This morning he went searching for his last worn T-shirt and took it out of the washer . Aaaaaahhhh that's feels better that was a good rant . On keeping within the golden rule . I sincerely apologise if I have broken the rules by mentioning chlorele I am not in anyway involved with the company or receive any monies .
