We are thinking of stopping this medicine as dad is getting worse. He broke down today, and has been so upset he's shattered. He is taking zolpidem as well to help him sleep @ night which is working so we will keep him on that. It"seems as though dad knows there's something wrong. This is the most horrendous cruelist illness ever.

For the first nine years. My wife medication. Can't remember the name Which I believe Did keep it at bay abit. But when she started really shouting and swearing they put her on a stronger medicine. Memantine and Aripiprazole Which I'm sad to say. Which after about six months. Turned her into a vegetable. And I was not going to put up with that. So I took her off all medications. And she became. More like Her old self. Obviously by this time. She had no memory. But once again she was happy. A lot of the time. I'm pretty sure. In nursing homes they Patients on these medication. Just to shut them up. Make It easy for themselves To handle the patient. But it's not gonna happen to my wife. I'm pretty sure. If she had gone into A nursing home. She would not have survived 13 years. Heading. For 14 i'm glad to say. All right it's very hard to handle. Sometimes a nightmare. Sometimes i can't Believe I can carry-on but we do. Here I go rambling on again. Once I start. I can't stop. Even my dyslexia. Won't stop me. Ha ha good night. All. Let's hope it's a peaceful one.

My husband is on Donepezil and NamendaXR. He takes them at night and has had no side effects at all. I asked the Dr. if at this point the medication was helping him and he said that it is hard to tell. Since he is having no bad effects from them, we should keep him on them. Because, if they are working and we stop them, it could be really bad with a quicker decline. I will say that when he started these he was taking them in the morning and he got dizzy. This is why he now takes them at night.

Do mean the carer taking something for stress or the person with dementia.
If you mean the carer i don't take anything for stress but i use meditation cds and this can help you can get them with just music or music with talking you through the meditation.
I find this quite useful.
Take care and god bless you all.
