I read the articles on Alzheimers and Dementia and they told of the 3 stages and gave examples of each stage. When I see new changes happening and look at how long since the start of the demenia and how many changes have happened in that stage, then I judge my Mom to be in that stage.

I had to put a change of address for Mom because she was sending money to everyone that asked for money....She got junk mail from everyone..She signed me up for a magazine subscription so that she could get a free book. I got the bill but no magazine..She did get the book. Her attorney said to let all of them know about her mental state and that we were not to pay any of the bills that she incurred.

My husband seems to vary from one stage to another. One day is SO NORMAL! Then he can't even help me take out the trash...he gets SO CONFUSED! Has anyone else had this to happen?

Yes, Teepa Snow's "Gems" gives a very good explanation of the stages of dementia.

Watch some of the Youtube videos by Teepa Snow. She talks about the signs and stages, and the best way to handle everyday situations like sundowning, hallucinating, wandering, problems eating etc. You will learn more from her than from any Dr or books.
