Would It Would Be Of Value To Offer Demenita Oriented Programs Through Park Districts To Keep People Engaged/have "fun" ?
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

I am looking to see what we can do at a community level to keep people engaged in "life" and I am thinking that our local Park Districts may be a good place to start? If you think this is a good idea, thoughts or ideas about what type of programs you would like to see, would be great!

Sounds like a very good idea. You may want to piggy back on Community Education activities/sam

My husband and I use to volunteer at a place called Rush Ranch in susuin ca.
Working with the horses was amazing. It really made a difference for him. Now we just go out to pet the ponies. I found the more I can keep him engaged the better he does. My problem now is I don’t feel safe trying to do such outing unless I have another set of hands in case something goes wrong. I would love to see parks and recreation set up activities. We can change the coarse of the disease but we can change their outlook to something more healthy.

Great idea. We have many parks and recreation in our area but few for those with ALZ or any dementia symptoms. Most are child friendly but not for those who may feel concerned about bathroom accessible, handicapped access but not easy for those of us who need to assist with their needs. There was 1 community that I read was designed for dementia sufferers. Since the population of those who also develop these varying conditions communities need to plan ahead?

The senior center has exercise programs, bingo, and board games. Guiding your loved ones though the steps will help exercise the mind
