How To Deal With My Mom Sleeping ALL Day?
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

Uncertain how to deal with this new phase in this uncharted journey! Mom sleeping ALL day, consequently not eating breakfast-lunch-dinner. She gets nasty and abusive I when awoken......
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Go with your gut on which medication you want your love one to take. Seems dr talks very little and just hand out medication, you have to live with them 24/7, do what make sense for your loved one.

...that or she just wants to sleep and may be depressed - I would let her sleep, as long as there is no other symptoms of illness.

I tried to sleep when my Matt was asleep but, he would be awake for 48 hours at a time and I could not function on that kind of sleep!!Then, he would want to sleep all day, and I couldn't do that soo we have been experimenting with different meds trying to find one that will work!!😇😇😇

Wow, so it's a thing then, the sleeping long hours? My mom has started in the past few weeks to sleep really really late. And because my dad likes to get up early, they go to bed early 10 am. She's been getting up at 10 and even 11am. I really don't want to add meds to her she already takes so many for different things -- arthritis, thyroid, blood pressure, depression. It's just not a good idea to add more to what she takes.

We give her Melatonin after dinner and this seems to help her rest at night.
