Anyone Have Experience In Giving Alz Sufferer A Doll To Look After
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

My Mom is used to taking care of Dad (both in frailcare) but he is now extremely ill and we do not expect him to live much longer. Would having a doll to look after help my Mom to transfer her need to nurture someone?

We gave my mom a doll but it backfired on us because she felt like she needed to take care of it constantly. It caused more stress for her to have it and the aides agreed, so we had to take it away. What she does have though is a stuffed cat and she is better able to cope with that.

I'm sorry about your mom and dad. Prayers are with you and your family. Anything you think of that may bring comfort to your mom is certainly worth a try. God bless.

[[email: [[email: (Email address can only be seen by the question and answer creators)'m glad it helped. It's funny you mentioned your mom's Maltese because my mom had one too....and then a Pomeranian. I went online to find a "look-a-like" for him and she loved it too.....along with the cat....lol. Whatever makes her happy makes me happy. Hugs and prayers for you and yours. ♡

I got an older poodle that was already trained for my husband. He is still home with me and we both enjoy that dog tremendously. He'll talk to that dog as if she were his child. I don't know where we would be if we hadn't gotten her.
