Exelon
How effective is it in the onset. Will it slow down the process.
My husband is taking Namzaric. His progression is very slow, thank God.
My Father-in-law Is Not Making Any Sense. He Talks With Regular And Made Up Words All The Time. How Do Other Caregivers Handle This?
I'm also wondering if this really is "normal" for dementia. All of my dementia information says that people with this disease will sometimes not make sense. However, he is not making sense all of the time. He's seeing things that aren't there and making up words. Just curious as to if anyone else is dealing with this or is this really out of the ordinary. Thanks!

Namzaric
Does it hurt to take this medication in the morning instead of evening, in my situation it is easier to give with breakfast.
I think you should discuss this with his doctors. At least let them know what you have decided to do.
Memantine
I am considering reducing my husband's Memantine dosage from 10 mg twice a day to 5 mg twice a day. I think the Memantine is why he only is awake for 6 hours a day. While awake he is alert and interactive for about 90 minutes and then doses off. The excessive sleep generally seems to have coincided with starting the medication. His doctors are giving me differing opinions. Can you please share your experiences with this medication? Has anyone reduced the dosage and what was the result?
Memantine
My hubby started on Memantine for about 3 1/2 yrs. A year ago she upped it to 28 mg a day. I believe that is the highest dosage. He has not had problem with it at all. He takes it in the… read more
Does Anyone Have Experience With Aricept 23mg
My mother is in early stages of Alzheimer's, she is currently on Aricept 10mg daily. Her neurologist took her off her Namenda because we saw no improvement within the first month. I hear there is a 23mg Aricept but it frequently causes GI upset. I wondered if anyone has any experience with that dosage? And if anyone has any other suggestions i would greatly appreciate it. This is just the start of this journey with my mom and sisters. I am feeling a little helpless and being a nurse it is my… read more
My husband used to get explosive diarrhoea about 4 hours after taking 10mg of Aricept but a friend suggested I give him 1/2 a tablet in the morning and 1/2 at night and that has worked out well.
Medication Donepezil 5mg
Do any of you have a family member on Donepezil 5mg? How has it worked to help Dementia / Alzheimer's?
The jury is still out. So hard to tell the effects of all these meds--dont want to not take them and don't know if he would be worse without them! I was concerned about his keeping over 12 hrs, also… read more
How Do You Address The Future.
We are pretty early in my husband’s diagnosis. We both have career backgrounds in medicine. He will talk about there being no cure for Alzheimer’s, but still talks about the doctor fixing it. I have tried to discuss a little of what might be coming, I know that somewhere he knows. He doesn’t retain that so I have been saying it progresses differently for everyone. When he focuses on his deficits to much he becomes scared and tearful. I understand! The other side of the coin is that I would like… read more

Could My Mother Be Denied?
I need a little help with an insurance question. My mothers has Alzheimer and is taking Namaric 28-10 mg and Mirtazapine 15mg. My father could not cope and isn't in the picture. I am her caregiver. I have a power of attorney. She is separated from my dad, but not legally because the State of Texas doesn't recognize separation. Each has decided not to persue a divorce. Dad is 87 and mother is 84. Mother has $620 from S.S. each month and that's it. There was no money set aside for long… read more
