Has anyone had a comforting experience enrolling your LO in long term memory care? My Mom is in great condition physically. While sheās moderate Alzheimerās, sheās quite mobile and social. But I cannot care for her 24/7. Iām solo, work FT and travel. The challenge is we are in different states. Iām overwhelmed but have decided on memory care for her safety but I fear she will decline more rapidly. So sad.
Amen- both hardest and the best decision I ever made!
Yesterday my husbands doctors office called and told me his doctor wanted me to call my husbands insurance company and request in home psychiatric care. Apparently I have to call myself and initiate the request. Does anyone have experience with psychiatric care visits and did you find them useful?
I have never heard of this, but it's probably what my wife needs!
Husband has a narcissistic and selfish personality and has been know to be called a āhot headā and very argumentative. Just hoping he will change from that.
That has to be so hurtful. We have a few but luckily for the most part he is happy and not argumentative. I am trying very hard to avoid getting upset with him about the little things that rub me theā¦ read more
My parents are new memory care residents. What types of activities are your loved ones involved in that are enjoyable and stimulating?

I am very grateful for this help. However, this time, he got very frustrated with me for ātrying to over-control everythingā and I am pretty angry at the lack of empathy and support I experienced. When away with my Mum, I have toā¦ read more

I feel bad. I brought my dad into our home. He was a farmer. He had cattle and cats he watched over. It was getting expensive to let stay at home. Letting him stay at home by himself, wasn't an option anymore. At our house, I feel guilty. He's just sitting around like a rock on a log. He loves walks, cat rides, shopping, church and meeting new people. I tried to get him to feed our cat. Started out good. Now not so much. Sometimes, he will work on a puzzle. What do others loved onesā¦ read more

My mother can't do any of the things she used to enjoy like cooking, reading, shopping, traveling. She can't follow plots or comprehend more than a headline. Although the tv is on all day she isn't actively listening anymore. To keep her occupied we have reorganized dresser drawers & her jewelry box, gone through boxes of photos & worked on the family tree together. She has short term memory loss but is pretty clear about family history & loves to talk about relatives & events from the past. Iā¦ read more
