I've noticed Frank seems to connect well with dogs. He seems more calm and not so anxious. We lost our 9 1/2 yr old boxer dog a year ago. When my son brings over his American Bull/Pit dog or my daughter brings over her Rottweiler, Frank spends the entire time either playing with the dog and petting them.

Moms been complaining of upset stomach for about a week now. Shes been on aricept for a little over a month. Just last week her dose went up to 10mg. I'm wondering if this could be the cause. I haven't had a chance to read the side affects. She hasn't eaten a whole lot besides soup. Was gonna give a call to the doc, but thought I'd ask of anyone else had experienced this.

Last night, when we were sleeping my dad got up and turned all the lights on even in rooms no body was in and then went back to his room. After that, my husband turned all the lights back off. Then my dad turned the back on. Has anyone had this issue before and what did you do to solve it? Our electric bill is the highest ever since my dad moved in.
We all got COVID. My husband is due to go back to work tomorrow. So he needs his sleep badly.
Any suggestions, please let me know.

I have been involved in the workup of my Fathers condition from the start, and being a medical professional myself, have understood all the diagnostics and differentials that needed to be considered to get a handle on why he was experiencing the symptoms he was at the time. In fact, i was more concerned about it all than his doctor, who was trying to blow it off as "normal aging". All the workup led to was a neurologist confirming that there was diffuse cerebral atrophy. Named it "Dementia-… read more
We were told the meds really don’t help, possibly slow down the deterioration. Clinical trials maybe an option.
I feel bad. I brought my dad into our home. He was a farmer. He had cattle and cats he watched over. It was getting expensive to let stay at home. Letting him stay at home by himself, wasn't an option anymore. At our house, I feel guilty. He's just sitting around like a rock on a log. He loves walks, cat rides, shopping, church and meeting new people. I tried to get him to feed our cat. Started out good. Now not so much. Sometimes, he will work on a puzzle. What do others loved ones… read more

I am trying to figure out how to help my mother-in-law who has been with us 2 months.
I need an official diagnosis but would like more details on caregiving and what level she's at, and whether certain meds are affecting her paranoia. Need advice on psychiatric meds, etc. So do I go to appointments using HER insurance? Or go to my own psychiatrist and ask questions about her? (I don't actually have one) How do you manage these things?
And I'm afraid to say to her "you have Alzheimers so I need… read more

I have been reading about the connection between metformin and dementia. My dad has diabetes and has taken it for years. Is there anyone that has had a connection like this? Just wondering.
Question: what is Metformin?
They then want to get up in middle of the night. Problem because I can’t sleep until later so I am not getting enough rest. Suggestion on how to handle this

His dementia continues to advance. So why keep taking it, especially now since it is costing 5 times as much?
