tylenol and sundowning does it work?
The doctor has approved melatonin but only when hubby has trouble falling asleep.
My mom is 74, diagnosed with Alzheimer's 4 years ago. Her symptoms are markedly worse when she isn't sleeping well and when her stress level is high. Sleep seems to be a constant problem for her. Her doctor prescribed a very small dose of Quetiapine 3 nights a week, but I feel like the medication might be making her confusion worse, and she seems to hallucinate sometimes, especially during the night, and I wonder if that is also caused by the Quetiapine.
Has anyone had a doctor recommend a… read more
My husband does well with melatonin and trazadone.

My mother was on Seroquel day and night as it was a backup for the dementia medicines that eventually did not help anymore. She was less agitated.
Mom has just been prescribed Trazadone for both sleep and paranoia. At what time in the evening is the best time to give. Also, how drowsy does this med make them? Will she now be able to sleep through the night? Do I have to worry about her having accidents in bed, although she hasn‘t had those problems yet. She also broke her ankle last week and had to put a cast on because she wouldn’t leave on her orthopedic boot. I worry so much about her getting up in the middle of the night and falling… read more

My partners Mum has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's but calls her most nights in the early hours and is confused as to what time it is or what day it is - is there any support for this during the night ?
You need to talk with your physician about meds for night time to assist with sleep. Tight now my mom is using Serriqill and trazadone to help go to sleep. Ask your doctor what would be good for her.

My mom was taking Advil PM and the doctor took her off of it. It increases the possibility of falls and can do damage to organs if taken regularly. We now use Trazodone (100 mg) before bed. Works… read more
Uncertain how to deal with this new phase in this uncharted journey! Mom sleeping ALL day, consequently not eating breakfast-lunch-dinner. She gets nasty and abusive I when awoken......
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
...that or she just wants to sleep and may be depressed - I would let her sleep, as long as there is no other symptoms of illness.
My husband has early onset alzheimers and takes 2 citalopram a day to help depression. His dementia is quite bad now and he has no ability to reason or hold information and for these reasons can't take any advice. My problem is that he is still so physically able that he is starting to do things that are dangerous. I have to have eyes in the back of my head and even then I'm often not quick enough. We are back and forth to the doctor with cut fingers because he is trying to be 'helpful' and… read more
I order mine from Amazon. You can also purchase it at Medical Marijuana shops. It is legal here in California so it is easy to purchase not so in other states and countries.
