I hope not and don't believe that it does. My hubby has been on it for a few years now. Per his nuerologist, it works well with Donepezil which my hubby is also on. Apparently these medications help prolong the illness and help with hallucinations.

Donepezil ( aricept) and Namenda (memantine) have we believe, helped my hubby so much. This past summer Neurologist said he is in Mild to Moderate stage. He was officially diagnosed with Alz. 4 1/2 yrs. ago even though we knew a couple of yrs. before then that something was wrong with his memory. She upped his Namenda to 28 mgs. a day.
