I still give my husband all medications as he also has epilepsy so I'm afraid to discontinue anything for now.

We choose not to do the AZ drugs as they really don't work. The question in my mind was always "Without a cure, why would I want to prolong this horrible disease? When he had his second seizure due to the disease, we did use an epilepsy drug more to prevent him having a seizure and falling thus causing more problems. We did not continue with his statins as this was the only med he was on. when aggression and irritability got bad, the doctor tried a drug - worked for about a month and then we stopped. The brain is constantly changing making the efficacy of a drug short lived it seems.

I quit Aricept . Way too many side effects for me . AFTER I quit I explored rxs for Alzheimer's and was disappointed and sad , no cure ...
Drugs , like Antipsychotics are available but they can do a real number on people too .

No doubt you've heard about the new Alzheimer's drug , 55-58,000 year ! Side effects can include brain bleeds . Just so happens the med board did NOT want to approve but many Biogen stock holders were on the board ! Got a fast track approval for use .
