What Is Best Way To Find A Sitter For My Husband?
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

I need sitter once or twice a week for short periods of time. My husband is 88, very kind and gentle. He sits quietly and watches TV or sleeps. We are at the point that I cannot leave him alone (my fear, not his) and it is hard to take him with me.

Hi Joann! There are several companies that provide care workers to take care of loved ones. If you are a member of a faith community, reaching out to the staff or pastor of the church also might help you find a volunteer - risky during these times of Covid, but definitely an option. A good place to start is your local Agency on Aging - it looks like Longview is part of the Area Agency on Aging of East Texas. There website is easttexasaaa.org and it looks like the provide referrals for both patient and caregiver services. Hope this helps!❤️

I found the best place to find help was the doctors office. But my beauty shop has a lot of leads for Caregivers/companions too. They know how trustworthy these people are.

There are people that will come to the house and sit with my husband. I pay her like a babysitter. She is very good with him.
