How Have Your Love One Reacted To Stopping Their Meds?
A myALZteam Member asked a question đź’

My husband started hospice about a ten days ago. They discontinued his donzepil and memantine and I was concerned about rapid decline( he’d already been declining quickly the last couple months). However he seems to be doing better and is doing small things that he hasn’t done in months. I can’t find any information on this. Has anyone else experienced this?

Does Anyone Have Any Ideas On How To Stay True To Yourself During This Trying Time Of Being A Full Time Caregiver???
A myALZteam Member asked a question đź’

Maybe this question was posted prior to my joining this site & if so, please forgive
My husband was diagnosed in 2012, & now needs me for everything. He sometimes gets angry if I leave the room. I don't feel like a person anymore. I don't get to be just me anymore. I don't get to do the things some of the things I used to enjoy. Sometimes I feel resentful, & angry at this disease. Sometimes I am angry at his children for not helping out even though I know in my heart they are busy with… read more

Anyone Experienced Their Loved One Being Evicted From Memory Dare?
A myALZteam Member asked a question đź’

A couple of days ago, I was given a 45 day eviction notice for my husband from the director of his memory care residence. She told me he should be in a skilled nursing facility, where they can keep him sedated. She told me that, even if another memory care decides to accept him, I’ll likely end up getting an eviction notice for him from them, too. But the nursing homes, I’ve contacted, seem to respond as if I’ve got my head up my butt. And they tell me they’re not equipped to handle dementia.

Do You Ever Doubt Your Loved Ones Diagnosis?
A myALZteam Member asked a question đź’

When my husband is out of sorts, I think okay, this really is happening. But sometimes (a lot here lately), I wonder could this all be a mistake? Could something else have been going on 6months ago and now it’s over? My husband has been on Aricept for about 5 or 6 months and since July 2nd on the highest dosage. Does he really need it anymore? I am so confused and I don’t want him labeled with something he doesn’t have! Has anyone else ever went through this doubt or know of a misdiagnosis being… read more

How Do You Know When It Is Time To Have Someone Placed In A Care Facility?
A myALZteam Member asked a question đź’

Mom still can do her personal care for the most part. She does not use the kitchen anymore, nor does she drive or go anyplace unattended. Her spouse is taking care of her for the most part with help from my sister and myself 3 days a week. Mom is getting very frustrated because we can't always figure out what she is trying to say. She also thinks we are always talking about her or that we are plotting against her. She also believes her husband is fooling around on her. One time said him and… read more

Frontotemporal Dementia
A myALZteam Member asked a question đź’

My husband was thought to have Alzheimers but now they feel it is frontotemporal dementia with the possibility of Alzheimers later. He is 63. Does anyone know if there is a support group for frontotemporal dementia or is this Alzheimers group ok for this?
He has been totally blind since 2004 which doesn't help (from glaucoma).

Two Questions. Do You Tell Your Loved One They Have Alzheimers? And Do You Go To THEIR Psychiatrist To Ask Questions?
A myALZteam Member asked a question đź’

I am trying to figure out how to help my mother-in-law who has been with us 2 months.

I need an official diagnosis but would like more details on caregiving and what level she's at, and whether certain meds are affecting her paranoia. Need advice on psychiatric meds, etc. So do I go to appointments using HER insurance? Or go to my own psychiatrist and ask questions about her? (I don't actually have one) How do you manage these things?

And I'm afraid to say to her "you have Alzheimers so I need… read more
