Hello all -
My MIL is sitting down/bending knees whenever she is being walked from bed to commode. Any tips and tricks to avoid her doing this? We have avoided using a gait belt by having two of us supporting her under her arms. We don't want to get overconfident and risk a fall with the belt.

Why is her commode not right next to her bed? So as you lift her she goes right on commode and she is already in the sitting position. The chair I'm assuming is light weight and easy to move before and after. Hope this works out.
Well. I'm not sure I still understand your situation but, seems as if she has contorted herself into a position that may be a permanent style. Can she lay flat in the bed? I really see no other option to move her other than the belts you mention using. It really seems like time to move to assisted living or more probably bring assisted living type assistance to your home. You have to be willling to admit when you personally cannot manage any longer. We all have our limits. Good luck with your dilemma
I agree. With Norna
She unfortunately is not mentally or physically capable of using a walker. She is basically bed/chair bound
How far away is commode from her bed? Have you tried a walker yet. That may help. Moving commode right next to her bed will make it easier on you.
