Neeed To Find A Way To Secure Pacemaker Transmitter
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

My dad is coming home from the hospital with a pacemaker transmitter. My mom has ALZ and is fascinated with all things electronic which she takes and hides. She does not understand or remember to leave things alone because "it is her house and she can do what she wants." Has anyone dealt with this? I guess I could put it in a lock box but worry about the signal strength. I can't put it out of reach because she climbs like a billy goat.

Maybe you could ask the doctor for a couple of used or broken ones. Give them to her, put her name on, and tell her those are hers, but this one is buds. Do not touch buds. Make up your own discussion around it since you know her and I dont know what would work best.

She may even move or put away a lockbox. Look for a good hiding spot, but don’t let her see you put it there. It’s amazing what they can remember sometimes. Just have someone distract her before you hide it.

Try putting signs “Do Not Unplug...” and identify the appliance. My mother would unplug everything, cable TV, phones, her chairlift and CPAP machines. If she touches the refrigerator, I’m outta here!
