Lee, the simple answer to your question is yes. There are various dementias that have different mechanisms. Two or more of these differing types can co-exist.
Thanks Steve for the info. His Dr has not given me what type of dementia. He went for a 4 hr testing yesterday, see his Neurologist in a week. With this site I hope to find some questions to ask the Dr.

Ask the neurologist for a referral for extensive neuroscience neuro psych testing. Explains much more about his current state and baseline for future tests.
