Of water he chokes. He screams for water and I mean screams. Could he have an icee? Any suggestions? HELP!
Julie, Jackie has Hyoscine patches to help manage saliva generation. A stronger version is available for iv application to give comfort at end of life. Thoughts with you at this difficult time. S.
Yes, Julie, a fine man indeed and I’m sure this is how you will want to remember him. I’d just echo what Linda said about the gentle moistening. We used that when Jackie was at her lowest and revert to it now if she has an off day as she did last week.
In looking for support groups you may find a bereavement group or even bereavement counselling to be better matched to your needs now than a dementia group. Kind regards, S.
As an RN I'm horrified and ashamed about lack of support for you and sugar water was perfect and not a mistake....wondering if those medical folks were from a care home or a hospital. Perhaps you want to share where dad died. This awful dying experience for you and dad is beyond my nursing understanding and sorry that cyber hugs and words are all we have to comfort you...am not sure I even know where you live
Hugging you by cyber as I write....I am so sorry your dad had such an awful death and know it will haunt you but hope you can understand that his drowning was uncommon and unlikely to happen to your hubby later or most of our Alz folks who slip away from pneumonia. Please continue to talk this thru here with caring cyber friends.
