A myALZteam Member asked a question đź’

My husband has been living at a memory care community since September. Overall, the caregivers take very good care of him and treat him with kindness& affection. With the holidays approaching I would like to recognize their excellent work with some sort of gift but am not sure what would be appreciated. I may ask the director as I want to be sure to follow policy but I would like to come up with something more clever than just a tray of cookies of a bowl of fruit (My preferred option so far.)… read more

I am making a gift basket with glycomed hand cream, hand sanitizer , high quality facial tissue, for the nurses station and some homemade truffles.
Our facility only has 30 beds and one nurses station.

I volunteer at the home so I will be helping to set up for the staff party and run some games so that the activity can have some fun too.

Hi. When Jackie went to a day service based in a care home I made a cash contribution towards the staff Christmas party fund.

When my father was in a home, I asked the director what the staff was missing in their lunch room that might help them. One thing was an serving cart on wheels. They really did appreciate it and made a fuss over dad!

All are great and wonderful ideas. When my father was in a facility they were all done at various times. For the full time aids that were especially caring of my father I mailed a nice card to their home with a gift card (an amount I could afford). They always thanked me in person. I felt it also meant my father received a little extra care because I noticed their level of care.
