Maybe have him sleep on a heating pad.... heat helps my back feel better. I suspect your hubby was on some fairly strong drugs and the Dr is afraid about dependance. So is trying to cut bak on the meds. Perhaps ask if there is something alternate that could be taken.

It's probably hard to balance alleviation of pain with not making dementia worse with meds. If the pain is that sever, and nothing else helps, maybe the doc will reconsider and give a smaller does of pain meds but more often, or something. My heart goes out to you

Did you call the Dr. And tell him what's going on? Sounds like he is having pain good luck and prayers.

John has a lot of pain in his back from arthritus but dr, says he cant give him pain meds with his dementue drugs.I know he is in a lot of pain.

Is your husband on Ibuprofen or another antiflammatory. Ask the doctor for different drug.
