Mom Is Tripping, What Shoes Are Best?
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

hello. Mom is getting further and further into Alzheimer's. She is now shuffling her feet and not picking them up. We have her in a sketcher type shoe that I think has too much grab for her. Do you have any recommendations as to what shoe may be best for her. I was thinking of a loafer type shoe, but not sure. Thank you for your time.

My Mom is shuffling also. She has not tripped over herself yet, but it would benefit her to pick her feet up.

The assisted living home said Physical Therapy is a good step in helping with that. I can’t get Mom to go to the gym for water aerobics. That was my answer.

Keep me in the loop for show suggestions. Good luck.

My mom recently started shuffling her feet and bends her knees when walking . She has the black safety shoes which I find to heavy, I’ve bought her Bobs, and Clarke’s
Still not right I bought a pair of iceatonas slippers in gold she loves her gold slipper and walks much better, short distances. we use a wheelchair most of the time my point try a lighter shoe . Hope this will help

My experience is shoes that do up (tie or velcor) and are fitted comfortably. How much walking does your loved one do? The more she walks, the better able to pick up her feet andnot shuffle. Best of luch.
