Serves no purpose to tell them.
It is simply another hurt in the this journey of the lost.

My mother has Dementia and my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's last summer. Is there a way to find out if I have early stage Dementia/Alzheimer's?
My husband also 2014 but he lived till Dec 27,2023 at age 87 he also was on Aricept
I am trying to figure out how to help my mother-in-law who has been with us 2 months.
I need an official diagnosis but would like more details on caregiving and what level she's at, and whether certain meds are affecting her paranoia. Need advice on psychiatric meds, etc. So do I go to appointments using HER insurance? Or go to my own psychiatrist and ask questions about her? (I don't actually have one) How do you manage these things?
And I'm afraid to say to her "you have Alzheimers so I need… read more
Yes. With online appointment it’s nuts. I made an appt for her in my “system”. The check in people freaked out, but i said I’m not leaving until we see someone about this fecal incontinence! It… read more
I'm also wondering if this really is "normal" for dementia. All of my dementia information says that people with this disease will sometimes not make sense. However, he is not making sense all of the time. He's seeing things that aren't there and making up words. Just curious as to if anyone else is dealing with this or is this really out of the ordinary. Thanks!
I just agree with what my LO tries to say and say your right or I know
I see people talking about stages of alzheimer's, but cannot get a clear answer..I have googled stages of alzheimer's but it is not terribly clear..thanks
In responding to the person who says her Mother, who is 88 is in Early Onset doesn't sound right to me. Early Onset as I understand it is when a person in their 50s or 60s is diagnosed with… read more

Does anyone have any good information on this? I find conflicting information that I read as if there is a vascular component, avoiding cholesterol based plaques is recommended, but what if there is no heart history and your doctor is keeping his cholesterol really low, around 100? Maybe I'm just grasping at straws.
Thank you so much for the excellent information on statin, use, benefit & risks. None of my husbands MDs thought that discontinuing his statin med which he has been on for years would benefit his… read more
When my husband is out of sorts, I think okay, this really is happening. But sometimes (a lot here lately), I wonder could this all be a mistake? Could something else have been going on 6months ago and now it’s over? My husband has been on Aricept for about 5 or 6 months and since July 2nd on the highest dosage. Does he really need it anymore? I am so confused and I don’t want him labeled with something he doesn’t have! Has anyone else ever went through this doubt or know of a misdiagnosis being… read more
I never questioned his condition, I spent the first part of his tests with the psychologist and psychiatrist one of the questions he was asked was how many children do you have? He said two, he has… read more
I haven’t posted in a while. I was living in FL but brought my husband up north in May to be near family. He steadily declined, eventually losing ability to walk etc. He is now completely bedbound. He is incontinent and cannot feed himself. He has lost interest in eating and even getting him to drink is a challenge. He has lost weight now. He has that occasional smile or comment that makes me remember how he was. I hate to see him this way. Some days I wish it was over and I feel so guilty for… read more
We had hospice care for my husband for the last 6 1/2 weeks of his life. He had an episode of a-fib, and went downhill rapidly. Two weeks before he died, he started falling, so we put the side rails… read more
