How Do You Know When It’s Time To Stop Carrying Your Loved One To Vote?
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

In Missouri it’s time to vote in the Primary’s. I noticed when it was time to vote in the Presidential race my hubby needed a lot of assistance, but has drastically changed since then. He really has no clue about what’s going on in the world, but still receives his voter card in the mail.

I know, I cannot direct him on which candidate to vote for and don’t want to, but am a little torn that here is another little, yet important thing that’s being stripped away from us.

Its a tough one, Deborah. Jackie has never had a strong commitment to any political party, so when her interest in issues / elections lapsed so did her voting. Had she been a lifelong supporter of any particular group I might have gone the extra mile to help her cast her vote a couple more times. You’re right, it’s another loss to add to the growing list. I’ll be interested in where your thoughts take you. S

I was in the same boat as you are @A myALZteam Member . I decided Don has done his due diligence all of his life so I had a friend come and take him out for a walk and coffee while I went to vote. Nothing was amiss in his world.

I recall addressing this issue with my husband @A myALZteam Member. I ordered absentee ballots so he could complete it at home with my help. He had been clear about his preference on the presidential ballot and that was the only vote he made. Since then he hasn't known one candidate from another so I could not in good conscience arrange for him to vote. I would not make suppositions about who I think he would vote for.

I explain that my husband has ALZ he has no drivers license but does have state issued ID.... I have never had a problem stepping in the voting both with him.

When we voted provincially this year the folks allowed me to explain ballot to hubby then I stepped back when he marked it but he is only early stage Alz so process memory was still there.
