Talk to your family doctor who will examined them and probably send you to a specialist.

With momma we were getting her diabetes checked and found a wonderful internist and that's when he noticed her issues. She refused to go to anyone else so he worked with us. We never got a specific diagnosis on her type but we had a caring doctor who remembered momma's teasing with him at the beginning of her coming too him.

I hope that helps a little, doctors are human too and have great compassion I've seen.
