A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

In about 3 weeks I'm going away with friends for 5 days leaving my sweet RAC with our daughter and SIL, both of whom work during the day. We will have caregivers for 8-10 hours a day plus he will go to his two regular day programs. I've requested continuity of caregivers as much as possible and will have them in once or twice before leaving to get acquainted with him and our routines. The agency has requested a detailed plan of care and I've prepared that. It is very detailed with expected… read more

Hi @A myALZteam Member, you've pretty much covered all the bases. I wish I was as organised as you. Fabulous stuff. I would just prepare him a little by telling him a few times about what's going to happen so its no surprise. It will need to be quite a few times (more closer to the day) to keep it in his mind.

Yes, @A myALZteam Member, making at least one more photo album is high on my pre-travel to-do list. Thanks for the reminder.

Yes you are very well organized. And as RodgerBull said keep reminding him a few days before you go. I also have store taking trips with my husband, he always wants to go but when we get where we were going he wants to go home because he is totally out of his comfort zone he just gets more aggitated and confused. Now you just need to go and have a wonderfully time, get some well deserved rest.

Yes, I've already begun speaking freely about the fact that I will be making a trip and he was disappointed he cannot go. Of course he has no awareness of how confused he got on our last trip and that I have vowed he would not travel again. Thanks for the reminder that I should become more specific about the caregivers a day or so before.
