Frontotemporal Dementia
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

My husband was thought to have Alzheimers but now they feel it is frontotemporal dementia with the possibility of Alzheimers later. He is 63. Does anyone know if there is a support group for frontotemporal dementia or is this Alzheimers group ok for this?
He has been totally blind since 2004 which doesn't help (from glaucoma).

Support groups often have people with various types of dementia attending, the support is the same and you may meet people who have a loved one with frontal temporal dementia as well.

Luckily the early stages are more frustration. Yes he does have a neurologist.

Yes definitely noticed a change in personality although sometimes he is still the same man he was. His worse issue is searching for words and saying the wrong words in conversation. This morning he asked if we had any BBq cream. When I was baffled he said you know burn cream. It turned out it was sunscreen he wanted!

I agree, most support groups deal with various types of dementia/ alzheimers. I do know that that particular kind affects their personality have you noticed a change?
