How Is It That My Husband Seems Fine To Everyone Else But Is Totally Unable To Do Anything For Himself? How Can That Be?
A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

My husband is totally dependent on me for every single thing he wants or needs done but when I take him out and about others can not see
that he is this bad. He can not shower by himself, brush his teeth, comb his har, shave, dress, eat, read, tell time and fifty thousand other things he is incapable of doing, BUT he remembers me, my sister, my nieces, our Pastor. It is crazy! Does anyone else have a loved on that seems like this
I am totally confused with the whole thing. He has had this… read more

It is quite trying and this is sad to say but if he has to have alzheimer's then I would hope that someone up above would free him from this horrible destiny! He is the kindest man anyone would ever want to meet and he has to end up completely non-functional! It would actually be a blessing if his mind would go completely at least he wouldn't know that he is declining and he wouldn't feel the pain of knowing how debilitating this is for him!

My brother in law is the same. Depends on my sister and neices and us sisters to do things for him but is very social with others when out. Although he will tell complete strangers that he has Alzheimer's when he remembers that he has Alzheimer's. I rather think that it is other people's lack of recognition of the symptoms when they say he seems like he is doing well. Hardest thing is meeting the patient where they are on any given day. Sometimes he can set the table but sometimes he can't remember where or what the table is, never mind setting it for dinner. Dealing with it every day is exhausting so give yourself a break whenever you can!!

I know how you fell my beautiful man seems to be declining very quickly he is the most intelligent man I have ever met with three degrees and it is so sad to see him struggling to do the simplest tasks or work on the simplest problems we are trying so hard to go on with our lives but it is getting harder and harder

My mother used to shuffle slowly around the house but when I took her to a Dr appointment she would put on heels and walk upright picking up her feet! Who knows why, we quit asking "why?" 3 years ago. It is what it is that's all I know
